Choosing a CBT Practice for Referrals and Continuity

When you’re choosing a therapist, whether for yourself or for someone in your care, availability matters as much as approach. A practice can offer the right kind of therapy and still fall short if reaching it is hard, or if the option that fits one week doesn’t fit the next. At Healing Helps Therapy in Glen Ellyn, we built our practice around two things that make care easier to stay with: evidence-based methods like cognitive behavioral therapy, and the flexibility to meet in person or by secure video across Illinois. Both matter, and here’s why.

Why the choice between in person and virtual shouldn’t be a compromise

Plenty of therapy is now offered one way or the other. Some practices are virtual only, others in person only, and that forces a choice that has nothing to do with what actually helps. We offer both. You can meet at our Glen Ellyn office on Roosevelt Road, or connect by HIPAA-compliant video from anywhere in Illinois, and you can move between the two as life changes. A provider who refers patients to us recently pointed to exactly that combination as the deciding factor: virtual visits for convenience, with in-person appointments available when those are what someone needs. Having both under one roof means the format bends to the person, not the other way around. Someone might start in the office to build a rapport, then switch to video during a stretch of travel or a demanding week, and switch back later without starting over with a new provider. That continuity is easy to overlook until you’ve lost it, and it’s one of the quieter reasons care actually sticks.

What evidence-based really means in our sessions

Cognitive behavioral therapy is one of the most studied approaches in mental health care, and it’s a core part of how we work. In practice, CBT helps you identify and reframe the thinking patterns that feed anxiety, low mood, and stress, and it gives you practical tools you can use in real time, not just insights that stay in the room. We also draw on solution-focused and trauma-informed care, because the right method depends on the person in front of us. What stays constant is that the approaches we use are clinically supported, not improvised. For anyone weighing where to send a patient, or where to start themselves, that grounding is the point. It also shapes how sessions feel. Because CBT is structured and skill based, you tend to leave with something concrete to work on between visits, rather than a vague sense that you talked. Progress becomes easier to notice, and the tools stay useful long after the work is done.

Reliability is part of the treatment

Good therapy depends on being able to count on it. A method only works if the person can actually access it when they need to, and consistency is part of what makes progress hold. That’s why we keep real, human contact at the center. If you’re not sure whether we’re the right fit, or whether your insurance is covered, you can call and reach a person who will help, rather than a form that goes nowhere. We accept Medicaid and major insurance, including Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Aetna, along with a self-pay and sliding scale option, so cost is one less barrier to getting started and staying with it.

How care usually begins

Starting is meant to be simple. It begins with a free 15-minute call, a quick, no-pressure conversation to understand what you’re looking for and confirm the fit. From there, you get set up in our scheduling portal and choose whether to meet in person in Glen Ellyn or by telehealth, with appointments available mornings, evenings, and weekends. Whether you’re a clinician looking for a dependable place to refer, or you’re seeking support for yourself, the first step is the same short conversation. There’s no long intake to clear before anyone will talk to you, and no obligation to continue if the fit isn’t right. The call is simply a chance to ask questions and get a feel for how we work.

If you’ve been looking for a CBT practice you can rely on, one that offers both in-person and virtual care and answers when you reach out, we’d welcome the conversation. Call (630) 360-2280 to set up a free 15-minute call, or book directly through our online portal. Therapy that meets you where you are, in more ways than one.
